Crew Comments

Deni

Captain Deni grew up in continental Croatia – Zagreb. A restless spirit with an early passion for travel, he went to the US to study Psychology and Sociology and then worked in US, Portugal, and Bulgaria. Upon return to Croatia, he attended Skipper’s Academy and has stuck with sailing ever since – first as the flotilla skipper for 3 years, then advancing to Skippered and Crewed charter. According to his own words – the best part about being onboard the whole time is the freedom to be in various places in a small space of time. As captain, he has to adapt and calculate the guests’ wishes, wind, and weather conditions, so it is always a challenge maintaining a balance, so there is never a dull moment while on the water. Besides sailing, Deni enjoys staying active by lifting weights, calisthenics, skateboarding, surfing, bodysurfing, bodyboarding, freediving, swimming, biking and sometimes running.

Aleksandra

Chef Aleksandra is a kind and gentle person, always trying her best. She originally graduated from trade school, then moved into the insurance industry. At this time, she was also involved in her family business where she gained experience within the bar, making cocktails and serving delicious food. She then joined the Moorings sister company, where she worked as a flotilla hostess for 5 seasons. During this time she was responsible for booking restaurants, organizing ports, excursions, medical care, wine tasting, sightseeing, and all other duties to make sure the guests were taken care of and had a good charter. She has now progressed to a position with The Moorings and looks forward to showing guests a unique but amazing experience on the water.

Testimonials

What a week! Our week in the beautiful Dalmatian islands was fabulous. In addition to the indescribable scenery and water, our captain and chef made the experience entertaining, educational, safe and effortless. Kudos to Moorings for having great people and equipment in special places. Bob Morrison

Great crewed sailing trip in Croatia! We had 7 excellent days on a 50 foot yacht with 4 couples and were treated by an excellent captain Edy and a superb chef in Alexandra. They provided great suggestions and arrangements at all our beautiful stops and the food and hospitality was excellent! Highly recommend the trip along the Croatian coast and these two hosts!

We sailed on the Bagheera 4500 sailing cat and had a great time! Our skipper Deni and our hostess Ana were more than we could ask for. Deni knew amazing spots around the Croatian islands and Ana very quickly learned our food and drink preferences. I sailed with my husband, mother-in-law, and brother- and sister-in-law, and had a marvelous vacation away from our children. I absolutely loved the bean bags on the front of the cat to relax on ad we motored along (it was too wet up there when we were sailing). The boat carried two stand-up paddle boards and an ocean kayak. We played hard during the day and then relaxed with wine and card games after dinner. For two nights we moored at lovely seaside villages. We explored those historic little towns and picked up a few souvenirs. One night (per Deni’s recommendation) we ate at The Fisherman’s House (Danish Dan’s) on St. Clement Island, and it was one of the most AMAZING meal experiences I’ve ever had. I could go on and on about the whole adventure. I would do this over and over again! Highly recommend.
