Visiting The British Virgin Islands over Thanksgiving

We are aware of very high arrivals into the BVI through the Thanksgiving period as well as flight disruptions currently and so wish to advise you there may be delays throughout the arrival process into the BVI.

To minimize disruption it is extremely important you complete the form on this page so that we can inform our Marina team of your plans.

You can also find specific instructions if your route comes via St Thomas or San Juan. Please leave at least 2 hours between your arrival in St Thomas and your scheduled ferry.

ARRIVALS VIA ST THOMAS, USVI  

If you are traveling into the BVI via St Thomas please ensure you print out copies of your travel documents and that: 

 

  • Every traveler aged five or older who enters the U.S. Virgin Islands, by air or sea, including anyone in transit to another destination, is required to use the USVI Travel Screening Portal and submit a COVID-19 test result prior to travel. Visit usviupdate.com 
  • You have prebooked your ferry tickets. Due to covid-19, ferry capacities have been reduced and there are just 3 ferries per day in operation at this time. Where possible we recommend taking early flights and ferries into the BVI and allowing two hours connection. Please visit bviports.org/covid-19 for the latest ferry schedule.  
  • If you are fully vaccinated, bring your proof of vaccination and a negative RT-PCR COVID-19 test or a negative rapid antigen test that was taken within 5 days prior to arrival and pre-register for a rapid antigen test before arriving in the BVI. Please be prepared to pay a fee of $50 for the rapid antigen test via cash or card at the ports of entry. If you are entering the BVI through:

  • If you are partially vaccinated, unvaccinated, unaccompanied minors who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, you must apply to enter the Virgin Islands within 5 days of arrival through the BVI Gateway portal bvigateway.bviaa.com/  
  • Have Travel insurance which includes coverage for: COVID-19 medical costs including hospitalization, medical repatriation and quarantine accommodation costs 
  • Prebook your taxi transfer through us at (800) 334-2435

ARRIVALS VIA SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO  

If you are flying into the BVI via Puerto Rico, please ensure you print out copies of your travel documents.  Where possible we recommend taking early flights into the BVI and allowing two hours connection: 


  • Passengers in transit for less than 48 hrs are not required to complete the Puerto Rico travel portal. 
  • If you are fully vaccinated, bring your proof of vaccination and proof of a negative RT-PCR COVID-19 test or a negative rapid antigen test taken within 5 days prior to arrival and pre-register for a rapid antigen test before arriving in the BVI. Please be prepared to pay a fee of $50 for the rapid antigen test via cash or card at Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport (EIS). Apply here airport.bvi.care 
  • If you are partially vaccinated, unvaccinated, unaccompanied minors who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, you must apply to enter the Virgin Islands within 5 days of arrival through the BVI Gateway portal bvigateway.bviaa.com/

Note: it may be advisable to complete your COVID test for BVI 4 days out rather than the maximum of 5 days out, so should a flight cancellation cause you to stay overnight in San Juan, your test result will not expire.
